Expanding the Clamping Range of the FE12 Flange Facing Machine

For standard pipeline repairs, technicians typically rely on internal diameter ID mount tools. However, small flanges present a unique obstacle because they do not have enough internal hole space for standard mounting. In these situations, field operators urgently need an outer diameter OD mount solution to finish their maintenance work efficiently.

The FE12 flange facing machine is the most representative OD mount flange repair tool on the market. While the standard facing diameter of the FE12 ranges from 0 to 12 inches (0 - 300 mm), similar machines on the market are restricted by a maximum 12 inch clamping limit.

To help a customer machine a 10 inch flange more effectively, MT introduced two new high quality attachments for the standard FE12 flange facing machine: piggyback plates and a 90 degree toolholder. The piggyback plate bolts directly to the machine, allowing technicians to securely clamp a larger 17.7 inch (450 mm) diameter flange.

  • Standard FE12 Clamping Range: 0 to 12 inches (0 - 300 mm)
  • Expanded Range with Attachments: Up to 17.7 inches (450 mm)

Key Results

Increased Versatility: The new attachments solve the space limitations of smaller pipe faces, expanding the utility of the standard flange facing machine.

Simple Setup: The piggyback plates bolt directly onto the flange facing machine, making it incredibly easy to set up and use on-site.

Cost Effective Solution: Eliminates the need to purchase separate heavy machinery by upgrading the capabilities of the existing flange facing machine.

MT high quality attachments successfully address the various challenges field engineers face daily. By extending the clamping capabilities of the FE12 flange facing machine, maintenance teams can now handle a wider variety of pipe sizes quickly and safely.
